Strawberry smoothies & summertime whimsy

My son loves to talk. He has the 'gift of gab', especially in front of a video camera... My oldest daughter has a gift and love for editing and producing short, amusing videos. Here's the result when you combine the two...

A full day tomorrow...

This Jubilee kitchen wax jar is among the many vintage "treasures" my prince has bestowed upon me over the past few years. I wish, however, it was full! My kitchen needs a good polishing (well, maybe a scouring) and I'm not feeling very jubilant about that! My housework has been falling behind a bit with all that's involved in setting up and attempting to list the many items I have for Etsy.
So tomorrow morning is dedicated to vacuuming, dusting, scrubbing and polishing. Yay housework!
However, after I'm finished, I get to play with some of the stuff I found last week at Love's Treasure's- One of the local thrift stores. It's sort of my reward for the all the times I've spent on my laptop or behind my camera lately. Here are a couple of the projects I get to work on...
They were having a sale, so the desk was $4.50 and the doll house was $5.25! Not exactly sure what I'll do with them yet...but I'm sure it'll come to me once I get started. Maybe I'll even get to the chair/bench project one of these days!

Antique Chair Bench ~ Before

I was so excited to find the website http://www.junkmarketstyle.com/ ! I've never seen so much cool junk! The following is a post I found there by JunkMama1 that is similar to a project I've been meaning to start for a while with some chairs that I have in the basement. She did a beautiful job. I love it! Antique Chair Bench ~ Before & After - JUNKMARKET Style

Just start blogging already!

My sweet friend, Farmgirlcyn, came over about a month ago to show me the blogging ropes and help me get set up, which I found to be pretty simple and straight forward. But then came the part where I actually have to blog. That part has NOT been so easy. Well, I guess after a month it's time I actually "type" some life into it.
I tend to be a perfectionist and my own worst critic, so maybe that's the reason it's taken me so long to get going. In my own defense it has been quite a busy couple of months. I did, at least, write a bit about that in the "about me" section.
But now it's summer break! Woo-hoo! No, I don't get the summer off, but it's that time of year that's a little more relaxed. No hectic morning rush getting the kids out the door, no car pooling to school or school events, no homework woes late into the evening. And although I'm sure I will miss the routine by the end of the summer, I am enjoying the extra time with the kids and the extra hours of daylight!
I'm looking forward to getting more comfortable with writing again. It's something I guess I laid down several years ago along with my love for creating things. It's time to pick it back up again and share my Etsy adventures, crafting projects and thrift store findings.
So that's one reason I'm here. The other? Well, I have a husband, 13 and 17 yr. old daughters, a 10 yr. old son, a sweet (but smelly) beagle that has a wheat allergy and countless irrational fears, a 5 yr. old cat with enough personality for 10 cats and an 8 wk. old kitten with enough energy for 20! What's not to write about? There's always something hillarious going on around here (and sometimes not so hillarious). Bottom line: These are the best days of my life. Why not share them?
